Kit Description and Benefits

The iBR Secondary Injection controller kit is designed to provide an easy plug-and-play solution for increasing the max fueling on the FA20DIT platform. This controller works quite differently from any other controller on the market. The SIC01 monitors the factory direct injection system and uses a proprietary algorithm to supplement fuel flow at higher loads and RPM. The SIC01 is not programmable by the end user but your car must be re-tuned after installation.

In order to simplify installation and tuning the ID1050X or ID1300 Injectors must be used.

Where and how does it add fuel?

The graph on the right (or below for mobile) is a visual representation of how the controller adds fuel to the system. While the operation of the entire system is far more complex than a single graph, this shows that as the Direct Injection duration gets longer our system starts to gradually add fuel. These numbers are for a visual representation only and should not be used for calibrations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why would I need Secondary Injection on my WRX?
A. A major limiting factor of the WRX platform is the maximum amount of fuel flow. Most tuners state the safe limit of the factory fuel system to be between 450 and 500 whp. The SIC01 allows control of additional fuel injectors to increase that maximum.

Q. How much WHP is this kit capable of?
A. We estimate that the controller can add between 300 and 400whp of capacity to the existing fuel system. This is a maximum value based on the injector flow rates. Like any system the lowest flow rate item will dictate how much HP can be made. You should work with your tuner or local shop to build an appropriate fuel system for your needs. Fuel pump hangers, fuel pumps and even line diameters will limit the most flow you can have through your system.

Q. Are there other benefits to secondary injection?
A. Secondary injection can help in other areas including cleaning of the intake valves. Another big benefit is that the tune can be adjusted to have lower loads and extend the life of the High Pressure Fuel Pump.

Q. What fuels does this work with?
A. Our controller will work with any fuel that is compatible with your fuel system.

Q. Why don’t I have to tune or adjust the SIC?
A. The controller simply augments the factory fuel injection, this allows all tuning on the car to be done through the Cobb Accessport. Also limiting the injectors it is designed to work with simplifies algorithm so it doesn’t require a unique setup or calibration by the end user.

Q. Can i run larger injectors like ID2000? what about other injectors? what about other fuel pressures??
A. We have tuned the compensation and onset curves specifically for ID1050X and ID1300X at 50PSI base fuel pressure.
Using different injectors or fuel pressures will still function, but at low SIC pulse width could run rough or unpredictably. iBR does not recommend it, but the ability to drive them is there.
